Some examples of the range of work with partners:

In Birmingham AL (2014-Present) working with the Birmingham Education Foundation, to help shape the new RAISE UP Network – an expanding group of parents, teachers, students and DSC_0650community members who are coming together to support successful educational outcomes for kids. Starting with an elementary, middle and high school cluster of schools, ED is bringing people together across boundaries through TSP designed Network Nights and Marketplaces.

In Washington DC  (2013-Present) working with The Community Preservation and Development Corporation (CPDC) a major affordable housing developer in the District of Columbia, to support a new strategy for resident engagement and co-investment. Trusted Space engaged staff working at 4 different CPDC communities in NE and SE areas of the District  to design practices and approaches needed to connect residents to each other as neighbors.  Based on its dynamic “Grow and Thrive” mission, TS is now working on the ground with staff at the Edgewood Community in Northeast DC to implement a version of the “Q Campaign” for resident engagement IMG_4137and improved quality of life.

In Cleveland OH, (2010-Present) working with residents and the staff of Neighborhood Connections, a component of the Cleveland Foundation, to design and implement a new network in the Greater University Circle area of the city. This new network —  NeighborUp! – brings together residents of some of Cleveland’s most distressed neighborhoods with individuals who work in and lead some of the areas strongest University and and Health Care institutions. With our partners at NeighborUp, we have designed a range of unique practices that are changing the way that people connect, build relationships, and generate and exchange value as neighbors.  The monthly “Network Night” in Greater University Circle draws nearly 100 neighbors.

In Boston with LISC – Local Initiative Support Corporation (2014- Present) working with client organizations in Roxbury and Mattapan to train and support community residents to mount NeighborCircles’ Campaigns in those neighborhoods.

IMG_7208In Detroit, Kankakee, Miami, Boston, and Washington DC  with POAH, Preservation of Affordable Housing (2014-Present) to support the Property Management and Resident Services staffs in affordable housing communities in those cities, to build collective efficacy and shift institutional practices.

As part of LISC’s Technical Assistance Team for the Justice Department’s Byrne Criminal Justice Innovation Program (BCJI) (2013-Present) to assist planning and implementation sites across the US to create quality community connections between residents and community, law enforcement and criminal justice system leaders in their communities. In Austin, Texas worked with the Austin Police Department as part of “Restore Rundberg” an initiative to improve community and police relationships and to revitalize the Rundberg neighborhood.

In Boston, MA in 2011-12 working with an action oriented local investment fund to design and help implement the first “Q Campaign” an innovative strategy to start a conversation with residents and institutions about Quality of Life and solutions to tough issues. In the summer of 2012 Trusted Space designed a 3 part strategy that resulted in over 1200 street conversations, a weekly “Marketplace” mixer that drew over 400 residents, and a Q Contest that surfaced 8 “Quality Ideas” winners who recieved over $50,000 to implement new business or community building ideas.

In Chicago IL, Akron OH and Norfolk VA in 2008 – present working with a national affordable housing developer called The Community Builders Inc. (TCB) to re-design that company’s approach to resident services for their vast portfolio of affordable housing communities across the US. Helping to shape an approach routed in supporting and building on the aspirations of residents and collective efficacy among site staff and resident leaders. At St. Stephen’s Terrace on the near west side, to of Chicago to design and launch “Q the Terrace!”…. a multifaceted resident engagement strategy to enlist residents as co-investors in a $20 million redevelopment of that IMG_5172troubled housing development. At Cascade Village in Akron in an area formerly known as “The Bottom” to train and support staff and residents to deploy practices such as NeighborCircles, the “Q Contest” and “Q Mixer” to build community among the diverse population there. Also in Worcester MA and Norfolk VA working with The Community Builders low and moderate income property communities  assisting the community life staff in designing and implementing their own Q Campaign for resident engagement.

Neighborhood Development Corporation (JPNDC)  to help chart  a course for resident engagement and community organizing as a part of their extensive strategic plan. TS is designing a number of steps to help staff and neighborhood leaders chart an impactful course forward as community leaders in sustaining and securing affordable housing.
